RIKI WESSELS EARLIER THIS MONTH SIGNED A NEW TWO-YEAR CONTRACT

Riki Wessels earlier this month signed a new two-year contract extending his career with Northants Cricket until 2010.    

Riki finished the 2008 season with almost 600 Championship runs, and his brilliant form led him to become one of the most reliable batsmen in the latter half of the season.    He commented after signing the extension, “I would like to thank the club for their support throughout my career, also Mark Tagg, David Ripley, David Capel through to all the support staff".

"I’m delighted to be able to extend my stay here at the County Ground and hope I will be able to further progress and enjoy my career here at Northants.  I’m very much looking forward to next year already. I’m in training every day now until the Christmas break, I want to be in the best possible shape going into the New Year”
